# Social Widgets

**Social Widgets** let you display content and profiles from supported social media platforms directly on your Sitee.

Instead of showing only a regular external link, YourSitee creates a visual preview using information from the original post, video, profile, or livestream.

## Available Social Widgets

Depending on the platform and content type, you can add widgets for content such as:

* YouTube videos
* X posts
* Twitch livestreams
* Instagram posts
* Pinterest Pins
* TikTok profiles and posts
* Facebook profiles and posts

The available widget types may expand as new integrations are introduced.

  </Step>
</Steps>

## Using the correct URL

Always use the direct public URL of the content you want to display.

Do not use a private, deleted, restricted, or unsupported URL.

<Note>
  **Social Widgets can only display information made available by the original platform.** Private, removed, age-restricted, region-restricted, or otherwise unavailable content may not load correctly.
</Note>

## Current customization options

For several Social Widgets, including **YouTube, X, Twitch, Pinterest, and Facebook**, you currently only need to provide the content URL.

We know that this offers limited control over how these widgets look. We are working to make Social Widgets more customizable over time.

<Info>
  **Social Widget customization is still evolving.** Additional layouts, appearance controls, and platform-specific settings may be introduced in future updates.
</Info>

## Instagram Post Widget

The **Instagram Post Widget** currently provides additional appearance settings.

### Layout

You can choose between:

* **Default** - displays a larger visual preview of the Instagram post
* **Compact** - uses a smaller and more condensed layout

The Compact option is useful when you want the widget to take up less space or fit more naturally beside other widgets.

### Maintain original aspect ratio

Enable **Maintain original aspect ratio** to preserve the proportions of the original Instagram post.

When disabled, YourSitee may adapt the preview to the standard widget layout.

<Tip>
  **Enable the original aspect ratio for unusually tall, wide, or visually important posts.** Use the standard layout when you want your widgets to appear more consistent in size.
</Tip>

## How Social Widgets are updated

Social Widgets use information provided by the original social platform.

If the original creator changes, removes, restricts, or deletes the content, the widget may also change or stop displaying properly.

YourSitee does not control:

* Whether the original content remains available
* The image or description supplied by the platform
* Platform-specific embeds and restrictions
* Whether visitors can access the content in their region
* Changes made by the original social media platform

If a widget stops working, first confirm that the original URL still opens publicly.

## Opening the original content

Visitors can use the platform icon or external-link control on a Social Widget to open the original content on its social media platform.

The exact appearance of this control depends on the widget and platform.

## Tips for better results

* Use the direct URL of the individual post or video
* Confirm that the content is public
* Preview the widget before publishing
* Avoid linking to content that may soon expire or be deleted
* Choose the Instagram layout that best fits the rest of your Sitee
* Check your public Sitee after publishing
