# Countdown Widget

The **Countdown Widget** lets you show a live countdown on your Sitee.

It is useful for launches, events, announcements, premieres, sales, deadlines, or anything else you want visitors to look forward to.

## Add a Countdown Widget

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your Sitee editor">
    Go to the [YourSitee dashboard](https://yoursit.ee/dashboard/editor) and open the Sitee you want to edit.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the widget menu">
    Select <Icon icon="grid-round-2-plus" /> **Add Widget** from the editor toolbar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Countdown">
    Select the **Countdown Widget** from the list of available widgets.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the title">
    Enter the title you want to display above the countdown, such as **Launch day**, **New video drops in**, or **Tomorrow's event**.

  <Step title="Choose the date and time">
    Set the exact <Icon icon="clock" /> **date** and **time** for your countdown target.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save and publish">
    Select <Icon icon="save" /> **Save**, then publish your changes to make the countdown visible on your public Sitee.

## What you can customize

The Countdown Widget currently includes these main settings:

* **Title**: the text shown above the countdown
* **Date & Time**: the exact target your countdown counts down to

The widget preview updates in real time while you edit it, so you can immediately see how it will look.

  The selected date and time are based on **your local timezone** when you set up the widget.

The Countdown Widget also supports some optional **Pro** features:

* **Spotlight**: visually emphasizes the widget
* **Sponsored Content**: adds a sponsored label when needed

Only **one** widget can be spotlighted on a Sitee at a time.

## When to use a Countdown Widget

A Countdown Widget works especially well for:

* product launches
* livestreams or premieres
* event countdowns
* giveaways
* special announcements
* limited-time offers

Try to keep the title short and clear so visitors instantly understand what the countdown is for.
