# Add social media connections

Social media connections make it easy for visitors to find your profiles on supported platforms directly from your Sitee.

They appear near your profile information and use recognizable platform icons, keeping your main accounts easy to find.

<Note>
  **Free accounts can add up to 9 social media connections.** The **Add** button shows how many connections you've already used for easy measure.

## Add a social media connection

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your Profile Widget">
    Open your Sitee editor and select your [**Profile Widget**](/account/your-profile-widget).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to Connections">
    Find the **Connections** section and select **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a platform">
    Search for a platform by name, paste a supported profile URL, or select one from the available connections.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your profile details">
    Select **Continue**, then enter the username, profile URL, or other information requested for that platform.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save your connection">
    Confirm the connection, then select **Save** in your Profile Widget.

    If you'd like to publish the changes to everyone, hit Save again.

  If you're unhappy with the placement of a social connection, you can drag one and reorder it within the list.

  Due to a bug, re-ordering may not work as intended when Publishing changes. As a workaround, please remove a connection and add it back in the correct order. When the issue is fixed, this is no longer needed.

## What can you connect?

YourSitee supports connections for social media, creator, music, developer, gaming, community, and payment platforms.

Popular options include Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, GitHub, Discord, Spotify, Twitch, PayPal, Patreon, and many more.

<Tip>
  **Start with the platforms that matter most.** A smaller selection of relevant connections is usually easier for visitors to understand than adding every account you have.

## Connections or social media widgets?

Use a **social media connection** when you want to link to your profile or account on a platform.

Use a **social media widget** when you want to display specific content, such as a YouTube video, Instagram post, track, or playlist directly on your Sitee.
