# Community Standards Explained

This page provides a plain-language overview of the rules that apply when using YourSitee.

The Community Standards form part of the [User Agreement](/resources/legal/user-agreement) and apply to accounts, Sitees, usernames, profile information, widgets, links, uploaded content, and other activity on YourSitee.

## Safety and respectful behavior

### Hate speech

Do not attack, dehumanize, or promote discrimination against people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

### Harassment and threats

Do not threaten, repeatedly target, intimidate, bully, or expose another person’s private information.

Content intended to make someone fear for their safety is not allowed.

### Extremism and violence

Do not support, promote, praise, recruit for, or represent terrorist or violent extremist organizations.

Content encouraging violence against individuals or groups is also prohibited.

### Child safety

Sexual, exploitative, abusive, or otherwise harmful content involving minors is strictly prohibited.

### Self-harm

Do not encourage, glorify, or provide instructions for suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders.

Responsible discussion, awareness, recovery, and support-related content may be allowed. Anyone in immediate danger should contact local emergency services or seek professional support. Visit our [Safety Center](/resources/trust/safety-center) for additional resources.

## Illegal, deceptive, and harmful activity

### Illegal goods and services

Do not use YourSitee to sell, distribute, or promote illegal goods, services, or activity.

Restrictions may also apply to regulated or age-restricted products, including weapons, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.

### Scams, phishing, and malware

Do not deceive people to obtain money, passwords, personal information, or account access.

Phishing pages, malware, fraudulent offers, and intentionally misleading links are prohibited.

### Harmful misinformation

Do not knowingly distribute false or misleading information when it creates a meaningful risk to public safety, health, or the rights of others.

### Political content

Political opinions, discussion, campaigning, and criticism are generally allowed.

Content involving impersonation, deceptive election practices, voter manipulation, or harmful misinformation may violate our rules.

### Impersonation

Do not pretend to be another person, organization, public figure, or brand in a misleading way.

Fan, parody, commentary, and community accounts should make their unofficial status clear where necessary.

## Content and intellectual property

### Copyright

Only publish content you own, are authorized to use, or are legally permitted to share.

Copyright holders can review our [DMCA and Copyright Requests](/resources/legal/dmca-and-copyright-requests) process.

### Sensitive and adult content

Some legal adult content may be permitted when it follows our [NSFW Policies](/resources/content/nsfw-policies) and uses the required content labels.

Sensitive content must not appear in unrestricted areas such as profile pictures or banners.

Content that is unlawful, exploitative, non-consensual, or involves minors is never allowed.

### Profile information

Usernames, display names, biographies, profile pictures, banners, badges, links, and other profile elements must follow the same rules as all other content.

Usernames must also comply with the [Username policy](/resources/content/username-policy).

## Platform integrity

### Artificial traffic and analytics manipulation

Do not artificially increase views, clicks, or other analytics through bots, scripts, coordinated manipulation, or other unauthorized methods.

### Bugs and security exploits

Do not exploit vulnerabilities, interfere with the Service, or access systems or data without authorization.

Security issues and product bugs should be reported through the appropriate reporting channels.

### Spam and system abuse

Do not distribute repetitive or unwanted content, misuse support channels, or submit false reports.

Coordinating reports against an account solely to disrupt or punish another user is prohibited.

### Ban evasion

Users who are permanently banned may not create or use another account to regain access to YourSitee.

A single serious violation may result in a permanent ban when the nature or severity of the violation justifies it.

## External links

You may link to external websites, but links used to facilitate prohibited content or activity are not allowed.

Third-party websites have their own rules and privacy practices. Review a website carefully before providing personal information, downloading files, or completing a payment.

## What is allowed?

You can generally:

* Share your work, projects, profiles, communities, and other links
* Express opinions and create art, writing, photography, and other content
* Discuss difficult subjects responsibly
* Share political views and participate in public debate
* Use required content labels for eligible sensitive material

The content must still comply with applicable law and the full Community Standards.

## What happens when the rules are broken?

Depending on the nature, severity, and context of a violation, YourSitee may:

* Remove or limit access to content
* Restrict account features
* Issue a warning
* Temporarily suspend an account
* Permanently ban an account

<Warning>
  **Enforcement does not require multiple violations.** A single serious violation may result in permanent removal from YourSitee.
</Warning>

Enforcement decisions are made using the available information and the official policies that apply to the situation.

## Report a potential violation

You do not need to be certain that a rule was broken. Submit the relevant information, and our Trust & Safety team will review it.
